Willing Servanthood

Willing Servanthood

What we don’t see is the battle going into the decision to be a willing servant.  It does not usually come automatically to be willing to lay down one’s will to accept serving the cause of another.  Sometimes what will play into our decision is nothing less than the promise of being a hero.  We need to be willing to cast that crown and many others at the foot of our Master for the sake of His cause.

One of the key points of servanthood is the submission of an individual to either a master or lord.  It is of great necessity for the servant to give up himself, his ambitions, and his agendas for the sake of a calling of a life or time of service. Servanthood is only valid if an individual has yielded himself to the lordship of another.

Some of us may be willing to die for a cause, but how about dying to yourself for the same cause.  Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  As Christians, we have a call to present ourselves as a living sacrifice (not a dead one).
